St. Vincent and the Grenadines Vacation Packages

Like many of its Caribbean counterparts, this 32-island chain features secluded beaches, tiny cays and colorful coral reefs. Unlike other areas, it has few tourists. Find charming destinations not heavily frequented by cruise ships on the chain of 32 islands of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The forested volcanic islands, white beaches and coral reefs here are as beautiful as any on the more popular Caribbean islands. St. Vincent and the Grenadines feel peaceful and secluded due to the lack of tourists. Relax here on a tiny cay that seems truly apart from the bustle of civilization.

St. Vincent is the chain’s largest and main island. The much smaller island of Bequia features some of the best beaches on miles of secluded shoreline, yet it has an area of only 7 square miles (18 square kilometers). Cool off in the calm waters of Princess Margaret Beach and Lower Bay Beach, both of which open onto the bay of Port Elizabeth on the island’s west side. Afterward, enjoy inexpensive seafood meals. When the wind shifts, discover isolated Industry Bay on the island’s northeast side.

Spend at least one day snorkeling or diving in the islands’ coral reefs. St. Vincent’s Bat Cave is a great spot for experienced divers. This deep, dark opening in seaside cliffs opens to a popular roosting place for bats. Watch the flying mammals flitting above as you explore the cave’s waters. Take a boat to the Tobago Cays, five tiny islands in the middle of the Grenadines surrounded by Horseshoe Reef.

Explore St. Vincent for the country’s best inland pleasures. Kingstown, the capital, is a lively Caribbean port. Visit on Saturdays to see the town’s daily market at its busiest and purchase fresh and juicy local melon. Trek into the rainforest-covered interior of the island, where you can climb up the cone and into the crater of the active La Soufriere Volcano.

Fly into St. Vincent and the Grenadines via the international airport just outside Kingstown. Navigate between the islands by hiring a boat and crew or renting your own sailboat or motorboat.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines Pre-Arrival Travel Form

Assumption

With more than 32 islands and cays, St. Vincent and the Grenadines is a charming place in the Southern Caribbean. Nine of its islands are inhabited, including the main island of St. Vincent and the following Grenadines: Young Island, Union Island, Mayreau, Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Petit St. Vincent, and Palm Island. This place is a great point to forget about noisy cars or even crowded shopping malls. To travel to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines it’s necessary to make an international connection, either by plane or by boat. Notice that many anchorages are available throughout the island. By the way, one thing you can’t forget when you travel to this place is your valid passport and the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Pre-Arrival Travel Form. To apply for the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Pre-Arrival Travel Form, you have to fill out an online form (you can take advantage of the one offered by iVisa.com) and follow a series of easy steps that won’t take you long. Keep in mind that you don’t have to visit the embassy or consulate to obtain this document. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is famous for its beautiful sailing destinations like Bequia Island, which is surrounded by colorful reefs and it faces Admiralty Bay, a place lined with white sand beaches. This small territory is also famous for its volcanic landscapes and the high-class private islands that can be quite peaceful every day. As you can assume by the name, the main island is Saint Vincent, and its capital is Kingstown (not to confuse with Kingston in Jamaica). This Caribbean paradise offers a mix of rainforest eco-adventures, luxury resorts, scuba diving, exotic beaches and sailing adventures. Moreover, you can explore the breathtaking Tobago Cays National Marine Park. This National Park has a famous archipelago made up of five uninhabited islands, which are: Petit Rameau, Petit Bateau, Baradal, Petit Tabac, and Jamesby. In this archipelago, you can give yourself a total escape with nature everywhere, as the beaches are quite calm and peaceful, especially since they haven’t been inhabited. You can also go snorkeling or diving and appreciate the beauty of the marine fauna in the place, including beautiful sea turtles and reddish coral reefs. However, we still remind you to be careful when trying to explore the small islands in the archipelago because you shouldn’t visit them by yourself. Always make sure to explore them with proper guidance, and don’t forget to leave your documentation (your passport and the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Pre-Arrival Travel Form) in a safe place to avoid losing them. As for the capital, Kingstown, it’s an excellent place to take afternoon walks and appreciate beautiful sunsets. Its name is quite popular, but for the wrong reasons, as many people confuse this city with the capital of Jamaica or believe that they are called the same. Jamaica is Kingston, while this city is Kingstown, different words at the end. In this city, you can visit the free library and the majestic Anglican Cathedral (Cathedral of the Assumption), which captivates due to its rocky construction of dark and impressive tones, simulating the old colonial forts. Many travelers often believe that as this region has different islets, it’s necessary to carry identification documents everywhere. But actually, it isn’t. Once you show your St. Vincent and the Grenadines Pre-Arrival Travel Form at the port of entry and also show your valid passport, it’s no longer necessary to show these documents elsewhere. It’s recommended to keep the passport and the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Pre-Arrival Travel Form at the hotel once you arrive there, this way, you can enjoy the rest of the trip with peace of mind and without fear of losing these documents. Speaking of safety, keep in mind that St Vincent and the Grenadines is a friendly Caribbean destination, and crime rates are relatively low. Most of the visits for travelers are trouble-free. However, there have been some incidents related to violent crime, including muggings, but they’ve been most common in the local community. To avoid any trouble, try to stay alert of your belongings, and try to take only the necessary in public. Another thing you should keep in mind is that theft from holiday homes and yachts does happen, but not so often. You can simply keep your doors and windows locked when you leave the accommodation, and try to keep your belongings (including the passport and the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Pre-Arrival Travel Form) in a safe place, away from windows. Aside from that, St. Vincent and the Grenadines has a lot to offer. We recommend you visit Union Island, the southernmost of the Grenadines. This island is only 90 km from Barbados, and from this island, you can see the mainland of Grenada. In Unión you have the opportunity to visit the cities of Clifton and Alto de la Cruz, with colorful houses and cozy alleys. This island has only 3,000 inhabitants and the official language is Spanish, although they also speak English and French. The crystal-clear waters and soft sands will be enough reason to make you stay there for at least a few hours. Another place you cannot overlook is Petit St Vincent, which is a small island that operates as an eco-friendly luxury resort. It has a lot of luxury villas, and as you can guess, it’s totally private, so you might have to pay a fee or a price to enter there. On this island, you don’t have to show your passport or the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Pre-Arrival Travel Form, but you still have to pay for the services, especially if you’re planning to stay at a resort. Once you’re there, you can enjoy the incredible landscape and calm waters. Other islands that you have to visit are Mayreau, Mopion, and Petit Tabac. All these islands have totally crystalline waters with a soft blue that mixes little by little with the intensity of the Caribbean Sea. Rest assured that you will fall in love with their beaches instantly. As a last obligatory stop, don’t forget to visit the La Soufrière volcano, but with extreme care, as this volcano is still active and its surroundings can only be accessed with the appropriate guide. You can enjoy many things in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, but to do so, you must apply for the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Pre-Arrival Travel Form because this document allows you to enter this territory properly. The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Pre-Arrival Travel Form was created by the government to have better control of all the tourists entering the region. However, it might be necessary for the future for other circumstances, including natural disasters. We recommend you to apply for the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Pre-Arrival Travel Form with iVisa.com to avoid any inconvenience when traveling to this Caribbean pearl.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines Luxury Vacation

Bequia Plantation Hotel

Here is sample itinerary of what you may expect while enjoying a sailing vacation with TradeWinds in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Weather or other outside factors may mean that your Captain sets an alternative course.

Arrival Day. All guests will meet for boarding at 5pm. Guests who have spent the first week staying at Blue Lagoon in St Vincent will be collected at Blue Lagoon Marina at 17:00, and will move out to Young Island for a well-deserved swim before your first gourmet dinner aboard under the stars. We’ll anchor here overnight, nestled below beautiful Fort Duvernette towering 200 feet above.

St Vincent to Mustique. After breakfast there’s time to swim or walk up to the fort before we sail to the millionaires’ playground of Mustique. On our way we’ll cross some of the best fishing grounds in the Grenadines. After lunch aboard, explore the island on foot or take a taxi-tour of the houses of, amongst others, Mick Jagger, Bryan Adams, Tommy Hilfiger and HRH Princess Margaret, before enjoying a drink at the world-famous Basils Bar.

Mustique to Tobago Cays. After breakfast this morning we’re off to the famous Tobago Cays, a pristine National Marine Park comprised of many small islands and home to dedicated turtle breeding areas. Snorkel and SCUBA dive at the Mayreau Gardens. We will spend a day and a half in this pristine turquoise kaleidoscope, and we’ll never want to leave Nature’s paradise.

Tobago Cays to Union Island. Start the day on a high, snorkelling with turtles and rays straight off the boat, before heading to Clifton late afternoon. On the way there we’ll search for some lost rum on Petit Tabac (Pirates of the Caribbean movie) before eating lunch anchored in front of Palm Island. Entering Clifton Harbour we pass by the famous hand-built ‘Happy Island’ and pause for a cocktail here before heading ashore for dinner.

Clifton, Mopion Island, Chatham Bay. Depending on the weather, we’ll sail to iconic Mopion Island for lunch. After enjoying the beautiful scenery around our own deserted island, we head for the tranquil waters of Chatham Bay on Union Island. We’ll enjoy snorkelling, diving, paddle-boarding or just relaxing whilst taking in the beauty and serenity of one of our favourite bays.

Chatham to Salt Whistle Bay. We set sail for Mayreau’s Saline Bay from where you can walk over the hill to beautiful Salt Whistle Bay. En route, stop and take in the picturesque cobblestone church with its magnificent view of the Tobago Cays. Snorkel, swim or relax on Salt Whistle’s world-renowned beach and spend the evening here sipping on Captain’s Cocktails served in freshly picked coconuts.

Mayreau to Bequia. Today we set sail to the beloved island of Bequia, about four hours to the north. Bequia is the second largest island in St Vincent and the Grenadines, and after lunch onboard you can wander around the many cafés, restaurants, shops and stalls selling locally-made items on this “Big Little Island”. We’ll dine ashore tonight at one of Bequia’s many excellent restaurants.

Departure Day. After a last delicious breakfast aboard, it’s time to exchange contact details with our ship-mates before leaving for the ferry back to St Vincent or for Bequia airport.

A mandatory 5-day quarantine period is in place for all travellers to St Vincent and the Grenadines from “High Risk countries “(including USA and UK). This means that guests MUST quarantine for at least FIVE DAYS prior to boarding, so why not add an extra couple of days to your stay and have extra time to enjoy the full amenities of whichever resort you choose before you board.

Unwind and settle into your first few days in paradise. Catch up on your reading and work on your suntan. Once your test results come through you’ll be totally relaxed, and able to fully enjoy the facilities of your chosen resort before boarding and heading out to explore the wonders of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The following resorts are approved by the Ministry of Health and Welfare of St Vincent and the Grenadines as quarantine facilities during the 2020 Covid-19 outbreak:

Charter a private flight to Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, a nation of 32 islands and cays in the southern portion of the Windward Islands, where the Caribbean Sea meets the Atlantic.

GovernorGrenada

Source: Flickr

The country consists of the main island (St. Vincent) and the northern two-thirds of the Grenadines, including Young Island, Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Mayreau, The Tobago Cays Marine Park, Union Island, Palm Island and Petit St. Vincent — the lower-third of the Grenadines belong to Grenada, located 85 miles to the southwest.

Many charter flights heading to St. Vincent and the Grenadines originate from neighboring Caribbean islands. Approximate flight times to St. Vincent: 35 minutes from Barbados; 30 minutes from Grenada; 45 minutes from Martinique; 20 minutes from St. Lucia; 2 hours 20 minutes from Puerto Rico.

All guests arriving in Saint Vincent and The Grenadines must present a valid passport, and visas are required for citizens of the following countries: China, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran and Nigeria. A return or onward ticket is also required for all visitors, and when needed, work permits can be obtained from the Prime Minister’s office on Bay Street in Kingstown.

Climate

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is home to a gorgeous tropical climate with high temperatures ranging between 84°F in the winter, and 88°F during the summer.

Oliver MesselPalm Island

Rainfall is abundant, especially on the main island of Saint Vincent; in Kingstown, nearly 80 inches of rain falls annually, including over 8 inches between June and November. The only months in which the rainfall amount is lower than 4 inches are February, March and April.

This makes the best time to visit Saint Vincent and the Grenadines between February and April, given the less frequent rain storms and being just outside of Hurricane season of the year. A private flight to the islands in January is also suitable, though visitors might have a rain shower or two to deal with.

Luxury Hotels

Fly private to the islands of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and enjoy a luxurious stay in one of their incredible five star resorts. The capital city Kingstown is home to the Buccament Bay Spa and Resort, however, most of St. Vincent will cater to crowds of tourists, and won’t offer the privacy found in the Grenadines.

Some of the best resorts will be scattered across the Grenadines, most notably on the island of Mustique. Before Colin Tennant, Oliver Messel, Princess Margaret, and Mick Jagger gave the island its allure, Mustique was home to only a small number of fishermen and goats.

Today, the island is owned by the Mustique Company, a consortium of the island’s home owners. The Cotton House Resort is a premier five-star hotel located on the island, and there are approximately 100 private villas (http://www.grenadinevillas.com/), many of which are available for rent. Additionally, there is a privately owned seven-bedroom hotel called Firefly.

It’s favored by the Royal family as well — Queen Elizabeth II, the head of state of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Prince Philip made private visits in 1966, 1977 and 1985; Prince William and Kate Middleton often vacation in Mustique.

The island is so peaceful, that David Bowie left his Indonesian-inspired multi-pavilion villa saying the house was so tranquil and peaceful, he found it hard to get any work done. Noel Gallagher of Oasis, on the other hand, managed to write and demo many of the songs that wound up on the album Be Here Now while on holiday in Mustique.

Mustique is also home to its own airstrip — (TVSM, MQS) Mustique Airport — with a runway deliberately restricted to match the island’s vision as a very private, ultra-exclusive luxury destination. The Mustique Company has run their internationally renowned, private, exclusive resort – one of the most successful in the world – by catering to the world’s wealthiest, having done so for 50 years, all without an international airport in St. Vincent until February of 2017.
